ABOUT
US

Taunton Deane Croquet Club originally began in 1985 on a single sloping lawn and eventually moved to its present site on the Taunton Vale Sports Club venue in 2005.
We have players of all abilities from national and county players to enthusiastic beginners, all happy to enjoy croquet in beautiful surroundings.

We play both Association and Golf croquet and in the last few years Short croquet also.
In the 2024 season we have entered 10 teams in South West Federation leagues and Club competitions are run throughout the main season with all players encouraged to join in.
There is still plenty of lawn time for those who enjoy a relaxed social game.

Facilities
All members are social members of the Taunton Vale Sports Club, so have access to the main building on the venue. At the lawns we have a clubhouse with kitchen facilities, hired toilet and parking area.

Season
The main playing season runs from early April to late September. Winter play is sometimes possible dependant on the weather and lawn condition.

Coaching
Coaching is available for all members by arrangement.
New members are given regular lessons and games arranged to help them integrate into the club. (See more information under New Members)

Website
Lawn booking is all done online and the sections Match News and Competitions, on the home page menu, keep members up to date with results.

Equipment and what to wear
We have a range of mallets for people to use when they first start croquet. Sets of balls and hoops are all in the clubhouse and you will be shown how to set up a lawn.
Flat soled shoes must be worn at all times to protect the lawns– most trainers are fine but not open-toed sandals. As the weather can often be changeable it is best to bring protective rainwear and for sunny days a sunhat.
